View guide: Air filter inspect-replace Written by: mrdiy PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 The air filter is located in the air box, which is in the left front part of the engine.
The air filter is held in place by the two metal clips, as shown in the picture. Unlatch the clips. Locate a connector in the air intake hose. Disconnect the connector. Loosen the metal strap holding the rubber intake hose to the air box by turning the wing nut. Remove the rubber intake hose. The air filter can now be easily accessed by removing the cover of the air box. At this time you can determine whether to replace the air filter or just clean it. If you decide to clean it, use an air compressor to blow any dirt or debrit from it. Place the new/cleaned filter into the airbox and replace the cover. Reattach the rubber intake hose. Reconnect the electrical connector.
