Drive the vehicle to bring the transmission fluid up to operating level.

You will need to raise the vehicle, either with a jack and jack stands, or drive onto ramps.

Find the transmission pan under the vehicle. It is located behind the oil pan.

Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.

Loosen the bolts on the back side of the transmission pan.

Start to loosen the bolts on the side of the transmission pan.

When you have loosened enough bolts, the fluid will start to drain into the pan.

After you have drained all the fluid that will come out by just loosening the bolts, remove the transmission pan.

The transmission pan will be full. Dump the remaining fluid into the pan.

There are 3 screws that hold in the transmission filter.

Remove the screws and remove the old filter.

Install the new transmission filter using the original screws.

Clean the inside of the transmission pan.

There is a magnet that collects metallic particles that should be cleaned as well.

Remove any remaining parts of the old gasket to prevent a leaking transmission pan.

You are now ready to reinstall the transmission pan.

Use a new gasket when you put the pan back on.

To ensure proper installation, be careful to put each bolt through the gasket.

Depending on the type of gasket you have, you may be able to hold it in place by sliding the bolts through the pan and gasket before reinstalling the pan. The gasket will hold the bolts in place.

Tighten every other bolt when you are reinstalling the transmission pan.

Lower your vehicle and fill with new ATF+ transmission fluid. You will need about 4-5 quarts.

When checking the fluid level, the vehicle should be running with the transmission in neutral.
