Truck has a rod knock but recently found this info:

Date: 08/01/1999
Component Name: 061100 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE
NHTSA #: 6896
SUMMARY: SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT AN ENGINE NOISE WHICH MAY BE PERCEIVED BY THE CUSTOMER AS A PISTON / CONNECTING ROD BEARING KNOCK. *TT

If it is not a rod knock, what could it be?
