hey everyone, I have a 2000 grand cherokee and I change the oil regualrly at around 3500-4500 miles. My major concern is that that when I start the vehicle it takes around 20 seconds for the pressure to come up at about 40 psi and while driving on the highway speed (75-80) the pressure drops completely.

I have no idea as to what is the real cause of this problem. I will appreciate any advice.

I guess you might be using a bit thin petrol/gas. Anyway, could you specify which one are you using? so that I can have a better idea as to what is the actual problem.

hmmmmm, yah, it's a bit thin except for the coldest winter day. In my opinion you should try 10w-30 in the winters and 10w-40 in the summer and see if it gets better a bit.

No, I don't think this is the problem Pat, I guess the prblem is relative to PCV system.

So, Lennie, you should get your PCV system checked out as PCV might not be moving the oil around, and the inside of the engine is getting very much pressurized so that the oil was coming out of any crack it could find.

I guess this will help you out and let me know if it worked out for you or not.

I would try a new pressure sending unit, or atleast have a shop check it with their gauge.
