how about some input on pro,s n con,s of coil spring gizmos,to raise height of car,to make room for larger tires,'eg' 205/75/15 to a 17'or 20'
i think not, son-in law says differnt. could they weaken springs,orpossibly break?
is there an suitable alternative ?

You should be able to go from 205/75/15 to a 17" rim without any problems. Just a lower profile tire that's all. 215/60/17 is almost the same size. 235/55/17 also would work and is slightly more common (more tires available) but that may be too wide for your car.

It's unlikely that you will be able to go from 15" rims to 20". 245/35/20 or 245/40/20 aren't perfect matches, but they are the smallest tires available in 20". 245 is more than 1.5 inches wider than the 205, so it's a good possibility that they would be rubbing fenders.

As far as putting rubber blockers or something like that in the springs... The biggest problem is that it's going to mess up your camber and you will get uneven tire wear.
