Thanks for reading my question :)

1999 Chevy K1500 Z71 Pickup 5.7L w/Automatic Transmission

The tach and speedo acted erratically a few days ago. Both needles would climb an inch up the gauge and then return to the proper spot. The gear indicator light would flicker when this happened. I turned off cruise control and it did it a couple more times then acted normally the rest of the trip. The engine RPMs did not actually climb when the tach said they did nor did speed increase. Its been fine for a few days until last night. The gear indicator went out and the check engine light came on along with the check gauges light. The tach and speedo went to zero. I pulled into a rest stop and crawled around underneath to check the connections to the tranny and so on, all looked good. I went to go ahead and drive home but it took of VERY sluggishly, I manually shifted into 1st and it took right off like normal, I manually shifted to 2nd and it shifted HARD and the same into 3rd. Limped it home and here I am. I can start it up and everything is normal, gear light is on, tach works along with the speedo. A few seconds to a few mins later the gear selector light goes out and the tach quits and its back to strange shifting.

I read about a problem with the Ignition switch and started the truck and pulled the PRNDL fuse and it has voltage to it. Now I am not sure what to chk next. Any help is appreciated...

Thank you
