Adjusting your headlights written by: mrdiy
Adjusting your car's headlights is something that doesn't need to be done often, and as a result often gets overlooked when it comes to routine maintenance. We’ve all been blinded by cars driving the opposite direction with misaligned headlights; quite dangerous, but this isn’t the only danger. If your cars headlights are not pointing correctly, you won’t be able to see as well while driving at night.

Checking and alignment:
Park your car on a flat, level surface about 25 feet from a wall or board propped up vertically. Your car should be directly facing the wall.

Point a laser pointer or run a piece of rope from the center of your car to the wall. Using tape, make a vertical line on the wall where the center of your car is.

Now, measure the height from the ground to the center of your headlights and measure the width between the centers of your headlights.

Make a vertical mark with the tape one half the distance between the headlights on either side of center line; one for each headlight.

Make a horizontal line through each of the side lines the same distance from the floor as your headlights.

Turn your lights on HIGH beam. The lights should point directly at the crosses. If they do not, you can adjust them using the vertical and horizontal adjustment screws on the headlamp enclosure.

It is important that the high beam light points straight ahead. When you turn on the low lights, it will point slightly down and right. This is to avoid blinding other drivers in oncoming traffic.
